Position Summary:The Dean serves as the Campus Diversity Office (CDO) and provides overall leadership and support to administrators, faculty and staff in the division, which includes Access and Disability Services, P.E.A.C.E. Center, Workforce Equity Initiative, Military Student Affairs, TRIO Programs, Title IX and institutional compliance. The Dean leads the College’s training and development efforts related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and champions our partnership with various external support services including One Million Degrees
Reporting and Supervisory Relationships:1. Direct reporting relationship to the Vice President of Student Affairs as a member of the Student Affairs Senior Leadership Team.2. Direct supervisory relationship with the Senior Director for TRIO Programs, Director of the P.E.A.C.E. Center, Workforce Equity Initiative Manager, Coordinator of Access and Disability Services, Coordinator of Military Student Affairs , Indirect supervisory relationship with Coordinator of Multicultural Male Initiative, and Coordinator of Hispanic Student Outreach and Retention.
1. Oversees the operations of Access and Disability Services, Student Support Services, Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, Workforce Equity Initiative, Military Student Affairs and the P.E.A.C.E. Center.2. Serves as the College Diversity Officer (CDO) and in doing so takes leadership in advancing the college’s strategic diversity goals and objectives, and college leadership on College policies and procedures.3. Serves as the College’s Title IX coordinator to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations related to student services.4. Supports and coordinates college efforts to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including but not limited to Title IV (Cleary Act, Drug and Alcohol Prevention, Gainful Employment, etc.) Title IX, FERPA, ICCB Self Study, and Athletics, in collaboration with designated College officials.5. Manages (internal and external) student complaints and grievances of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. This includes coordinating the complaint process, and reviewing comprehensive investigative reports in order to foster the effective, equitable, and timely resolution of student complaints.
6. Monitors regulatory, legislative, and policy matters that affect the College’s compliance efforts, staying current on new developments and areas of potential compliance vulnerability; disseminates information concerning such developments to College leadership.7. Establishes and maintains a compliance calendar and resource manual; collaborates with appropriate departments to ensure timely compliance with all regulations and standards.8. Documents compliance efforts and maintains copies of related college records, prepares reports on compliance efforts and results for appropriate parties, and assists with internal and external reporting and audits related to compliance, regulations and regional accreditation.9. Provides leadership and support in developing and implementing effective diversity, equity, and inclusion training and educational programs.10. Coordinates and supports programs and services to further close the achievement gap on campus.11. Supports the business and finance division in identifying and contracting with minority owned businesses consistent with college policy.12. Serves as the College liaison with district agencies and partners on matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion.13. Develops and maintains proper budgeting, fiscal and personnel resources, report preparation, and management within the assigned area.14. Works with Human Resources to train search committees and support the Affirmative Action and EEO work of the college.15. Performs professional and administrative duties assigned, as appropriate, by the Vice President of Student Affairs in addition to delineated responsibilities.
1. Master’s degree in counseling, student affairs or related discipline.2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.3. A minimum of three-years of administrative, management, counseling, or advisingexperience.4. Strong analytical, interpersonal, computer, verbal and written communication skills.5. Demonstrated fiscal and personnel management skills, including counseling andnegotiating skills.6. Ability to maintain confidentiality.7. Experience administering, investigating, and leading Title IX efforts on a college campus.
1. Doctorate degree in counseling, student affairs or related discipline.2. Administrative experience in a community college setting.3. Knowledge of the operational flow of admissions, assessment, academic advising, career development, counseling and articulation.
The schedule consists of working minimally 8:00am to 4:30pm four (5) days a week. Occasionally there will be additional evening and weekend hours.

Prairie State College is a richly diverse community college located 30 minutes south of Chicago.
