Description
Walla Walla Community College is seeking applicants to create a pool of adjunct instructors to teach classes for the Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T), Human & Social Services program in the Corrections Education program at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) in Connell, WA.
This pool of applicants will be used to draw from as needed as opportunities arise on a quarter-to-quarter basis. Please indicate in your letter of interest or other submitted documents what specific subjects you are qualified to teach.

This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (WSBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections. Walla Walla Community College and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all Department of Corrections (DOC) Policies, IT and other Security requirements, follow DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent's directions.

General Responsibilities:
Faculty members are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality education for all WWCC students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning. This position reports to the Dean of Corrections Education at CRCC and will be responsible for teaching classes to offenders housed at CRCC. Successful candidates will teach assigned classes, prepare teaching materials, assign grades, maintain records, and consult with students as required by the instructional division.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Human Services, Community Health, Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Health Promotion/Behavior, Human Development, Public Health or closely related field.

On October 31, 2022, Washington State Governor Jay Inslee rescinded the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for higher education institutions. However, COVID-19 vaccination remains a condition of employment at the Department of Correction (DOC). DOC employees and contractors are expected to show proof of vaccination upon entering the facility.
This pool is for part-time instruction assignments located at the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell, Washington. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment and provide official transcripts. All Walla Walla Community College staff members employed at one of the Correction Education facilities must be cleared by an FBI background check before being hired into such positions.
Faculty terms and conditions of employment are negotiated with their exclusive bargaining representative, the Association for Higher Education. A complete copy of the agreement can be found on the WWCC Employment Page.
Compensation:
Compensation for adjunct instruction is contingent on enrollment and paid in accordance with the contract between the WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will commensurate with the educational background and experience per the Faculty Negotiated Agreement (Download PDF reader). Refer to Appendix D for the part-time salary schedule.
