Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Community Engagement and Service position provides leadership and supervision for the volunteerism and service-learning unit within the Office of Student Involvement and Student Center.

The Lead is responsible for developing and leading co-curricular programs and services that engage the Georgia Gwinnett College student body in community service and volunteer activities.


Additionally, responsibilities include creating and supporting curricular and co-curricular opportunities that utilize service as a means for student learning and development, to advance the institution's integrated academic experience model.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees the development, execution, and evaluation of volunteer programs, to include local, national, and international service experiences
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and the community to integrate service and social justice in co-curricular and curricular experiences
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of leadership, and civic engagement programs
  • Collects data on service learning and volunteer efforts at GGC to document and assess the impact of work and to keep the department informed about campus and community needs, collaborating with Institutional Research as appropriate
  • Tracks, approves, and reports student volunteers' hours; trains and supervises student workers who assist with volunteer programs, projects, and initiatives
  • Prepares, processes and monitors the volunteer/service program budget including creation of purchase orders, processing of invoices, expense reports, supply orders, meeting facilities, event planning, reimbursement requests, travel accommodations and transportation reservations; coordinates administrative items including scheduling meetings, assisting with event planning, travel accommodations and transportation reservations
  • Provides supervision of events and activities of the GGC Care Pantry
  • Supervises the GGC Care Pantry Coordinator
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
  • Three to five years of experience planning, developing and evaluating volunteer programs (preferably within a higher education setting) including one year of experience advising student clubs and organizations
  • One year of supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Personnel Work or closely related field
  • Experience in a college/university Student Affairs related setting
  • Experience in assessment of student programs
  • Experience with working with fraternities and/or sororities

  • Ability to interact well with the campus constituents as well as public community representatives, and organizations requesting information and service
