Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track position in the Writing Program with expertise in teaching first-year writing and the rhetorics of digital and multimodal writing. We are a congenial, collaborative program, housed on Loyola’s beautiful lakeside campus. The position is renewable contingent on performance and review. This search is part of a university-wide, multiyear hiring initiative designed to hire outstanding researchers and teachers who are reflective of our diverse student body. Full-time faculty in the Writing Program teach four courses per semester in Writing and Core Literature. Course assignments are based on the needs of the Department of English and the Writing Program but typically involve first year writing, advanced writing, and introductory literature courses. Faculty also engage in service at the program and department levels.

Qualifications:

PhD in English or a closely related field by May 2023, with three years’ demonstrated excellence teaching first-year writing and experience teaching digital and multimodal rhetorics. Other preferred areas of expertise include anti-racist pedagogy, social justice rhetoric/writing, and public writing. Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds. They must be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic education.
