The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering, Design and Computing at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) invites applications for a full-time, nine-month (academic year) non-tenure track Clinical Teaching Track (CTT) faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in support of our goal to integrate, education, innovation, and engagement across the department and college. Preferred areas of expertise include mechatronics, robotics, and autonomous vehicles/systems. Teaching will be in these areas as well as electrical courses and laboratories.

The new CTT faculty member will be responsible for developing and teaching courses in their area of expertise, as well as collaborating with others to develop and teach interdisciplinary courses. We seek colleagues who will work to make CU Denver welcoming to students, faculty, and collaborators from diverse backgrounds, so we can achieve our full potential as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI).

About the Department

The CU Denver Department of Mechanical Engineering currently has eight full-time tenured and tenure track faculty, one clinical teaching track faculty, one full-time instructors, and many part-time lecturers. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, including Master of Science, Master of Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy. The department's undergraduate program is fully accredited by ABET. As of Fall 2021, the department has approximately 240 undergraduate students, 30 Master's students, and 15 doctoral students.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position has been established $65,000-$75,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field, with extensive experience in the field of mechatronics.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
  • Teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Experience advising and mentoring students
  • Experience in course and curriculum development
  • Evidence of interdisciplinary collaborations
  • Scholarly research skills and experience
