Your opportunity:

Under the direction of the Director of Advancement, the Senior Development Officer, Leadership Annual Giving & Planned Gifts is responsible for the full scope of activities related to the cultivation, solicitation, recognition, and stewardship of a portfolio of Leadership Giving prospects and donors, typically in the giving range of $1000 – $24,999. The incumbent develops strategies to promote strategic multi-year giving through a tailored program to support sustainable growth for the Leadership Giving portfolio. Working closely with the Alumni Relations and Annual Development Officer, the incumbent is responsible for following up with alumni and self-selected prospects by making personal calls and involving them, as appropriate with alumni activities and events, deepening their engagement with Faculty priorities and soliciting them to join the Leadership Annual Giving Program. The incumbent will also ensure proper stewardship takes place following a giftto maintain the donor's involvement, interest and support. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Director of Advancement to design and implement a Planned Giving/Legacy plan. The incumbent will identify, cultivate, and support the solicitationof planned giving prospects and donors to the faculty.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
  • Determining the appropriate involvement of members of the university community and volunteers in the cultivation, solicitation and recognition process
  • Developing tailored fundraising initiatives that support strategic initiatives
  • Providing orientation to volunteers on appropriate donor solicitation strategies
  • Developing marketing/communications strategies that support fundraising campaigns and programs
  • Developing and implementingplans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and/or activities
  • Writing briefing notes, solicitation plans and call reports to track donor interaction
  • Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with donors and prospects in support of the University's priorities

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Experience in cultivation and stewardship of current and prospective major gift donors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of donor engagement.
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills.
  • Strong negotiator with the ability to persuade others.
  • Results and process oriented with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Exceland PowerPoint)
