Associate Director - Meal Plan Sales, Marketing and Communication 

Annual Salary- $70,000 - $75,000 with bonus potential.

 

Position:

    This position will assess, design, implement, and manage marketing strategies for UT Dining. Creates, recommends, and implements strategies to increase the meal plan satisfaction rate and meal plan participation. Responsible for implementing an integrated communications strategy of internal and external communications that supports UT Dining and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Campus Operations.


Qualifications
Job Function/Responsibilities:

25% - Evaluates, designs, and recommends sales and marketing strategies to the Vice Chancellor of Campus Operations and the Director of Dining. Coordinates marketing plans with the dining contractor and university stakeholders. Trains and educates dining staff in aspects of marketing and related customer service. Aids and assists teams in developing ideas into measurable goals. Works with other marketing professionals and the University of Tennessee to assist in integrating a coordinated university marketing approach and keep them apprised of current divisional and departmental plans. Represents the division and department on internal and external committees; serves as chief liaison with Admissions, New Student Programs, and Residential Life.

 

25% - Coordinates the implementation and development of publications, newsletters, advertisements, special promotions, and web-based marketing materials and reports. Meets with the leadership team, unit supervisors, and managers to evaluate and recommend revisions as necessary to the marketing plan. Coordinates communication with students, parents, faculty, and staff in response to questions or concerns. Connects the Dining mission and vision with pertinent information to multiple audiences and customers using social media and other forms of communication. Educates students, parents, faculty, and staff about meal plans and overall the Vol Dining program.

 

20% - Determines market needs by gathering data from focus groups, surveys, and secondary sources. Makes recommendations based on analytics obtained through social media, sales, email marketing, and focus groups. Regularly interacts with customers in dining facilities in order to identify and develop possible marketing strategies for enhanced services. Makes recommendations regarding the scope and content of the marketing program. Stays informed on the latest higher ed dining developments and trends through multi-media, attending related conferences/workshops, and studying current literature.

20% - Designs and develops meal plan scenarios for future recommendations to the Director of Dining. Promotes meal plans for commuter/non-commuter students, undergraduate/graduate students, soroity/fraternity houses, and faculty/staff. Tracks and monitors meal plan statistics including: usage, pricing, saturation rates, missed meals, locations, and meal periods. Develops strategies to increase customer satisfaction rate and increase plan participation. Responds to concerns, inquiries, and problems expressed by students, parents, UT departments, faculty, and staff.

10% - Develops and manages the marketing and advertising budget. Establishes budget priorities and makes budgetary and resource allocation recommendations to the Director of Dining and Vice Chancellor for Campus Operations.

  • Software/Programs Skills- Microsoft Office Suite, Survey Tools, Social Media Platforms and WordPress
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity of the dining/restaurant industry, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Effective time management, stress-management, conflict management, and marketing skills.
Preferred Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree
