Alvernia University’s Communication & Digital Media Department invites applicants for a fulltime tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2023. 

Required Qualifications: Successful candidates will hold a PhD in communication or related field, possess a commitment to excellence in teaching with a demonstrated ability to incorporate diverse pedagogical approaches in varied learning environments, have a demonstrated commitment to service, and have a defined research agenda. With the Alvernia University Writing Program housed in the Communication & Digital Media Department, the successful applicant will be required to teach two sections of freshman composition and two sections of undergraduate communication courses per semester. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in cross-cultural communication and diversity, equity, & inclusion in the media. 

With Alvernia’s new state-of-the art Reading CollegeTowne facility, our technology driven classrooms, we support scholar practitioners who actively engage in practice and action research. Teaching assignments may include traditional day and adult education accelerated courses, offsite education, and online/blended delivery formats. Commitment to high-impact practices such as service-learning, experiential learning, action research, and use of innovative pedagogy is expected. Department leadership and service opportunities are available.
