Job Description:
Full-Time Bilingual (English/Spanish) Food Access Worker: Clerk V; Community Resources; 37.5 week, Monday and Friday 9am-5pm; Tues-Thurs 11am-7pm; AFSCME Unit I Position; Grant Funded
The Bilingual (English/Spanish) Food Access Worker will assist with outreach about and operations of the current campus food programming. The position will also proactively outreach to and assist with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) enrollment for NECC students and their families. Part of this position will include data tracking and entry; administrative tasks, community collaboration, and assistance with volunteers/work study training.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Outreach to students about campus food security and basic needs programming, including submitting weekly email announcements, participating in campus fairs and tabling events, social media, etc.
- Assist students and their families with SNAP enrollment, including initial enrollment and follow up with students who have been denied benefits to determine if additional advocacy is needed.
- Outreach to the college community and identify potential employees to be trained in SNAP enrollment.
- Assist with food pantry operations: Order and/or transport donations/orders for the program, schedule student appointments, fulfill food orders, deliver food to students, organize pantry, maintain food safety guidelines.
- Schedule and assist with training volunteers, interns, work study students, and others for food programs, including any associated paperwork.
- Assist with monthly mobile market operations.
- Assist with management of food pantry software.
- Track and enter program data in various software programs; submit reports/data for the Coordinator for approval.
- Collaborate with community organizations, as needed, to promote student food
- Perform administrative tasks for the program area, including but not limited to space reservations, website page maintenance, social media, etc.

Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required (A) experience.*
III. A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*
*Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (B) experience.
Additional Minimum Qualifications
- Strong verbal and organizational skills
- Must be comfortable using technology and computer systems.
STRONGLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree in Human Services, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology or a related field.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience using a strengths-based approach.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with second language learners and first-time college students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Ability to lift 15 lbs.
- Ability to travel between both campuses and within the greater Merrimack Valley.

Additional Information:
SALARY: $1,820.73 - $2,558.62 biweekly ($47,338.98 - $66,524.12 annually). Pay grade 15; An appointment from outside the bargaining unit (AFSCME) must start at Step I of the range. Complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, free dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits.
