Applications are now being accepted for the position of Senior Student Services Assistant for EOPS & Borderless Scholars at San Diego Mesa College. The Senior Student Services Assistant for EOPS & Borderless Scholars is responsible for providing supportive services to the EOPS program, Borderless Scholars Program, and Dreamer Resource Center. This is a 40-hour work week, Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m.- 3 p.m., 12-month contract. This position will be housed in the EOPS Department and is under the direction of the Director of EOPS and Special Programs. Mesa College is located in Clairemont Mesa in San Diego and is one of three colleges in the San Diego Community College District.

EOPS provides services over, above and beyond what the college provides. EOPS provides a student-centered environment by promoting access, retention and completion of educational goals. Borderless Scholars program and Dreamer Resource Center support students that identify as undocumented, AB540, Dreamer, DACA, and students from mixed-status families. The program and center provide a safe and welcoming environment for undocumented students and undocu-allies; support is provided through personal/career/academic counseling, on-campus support services, and community resources including legal services.

· Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with undocumented, AB540, Dreamer, DACA recipients, and students from mixed status families.· Interpreting and applying policies and regulations within a higher education setting.· Demonstrated knowledge, ability, and experience preparing and presenting reports of services.· Knowledge about budget monitoring and projection.· Knowledge and the ability to identify students experiencing challenges, including monitoring, evaluating progress, and increasing retention.· Establish and maintain collegial working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administration, community agencies and educational institutions.· Knowledge and/or skill in the use of computer technology, applies emerging technologies, and ability to utilize technology in promoting and enhancing services to students.· Knowledge, training, and experience that would indicate sensitivity, understanding, and ability to work with special populations, as well as the diverse academic, socio-economic, disability, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Assist targeted students to meet their key needs, with a particular focus on financial aid, housing, and community resources.

Pay Information:
Range 19 ($3,838.95 – $5,836.03) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule. New employees will begin on Step B ($3,838.95) or up to Step C ($4,030.89) with 36 months of verified, paid, full-time equivalent related job experience. For purposes of salary placement, 7.5 semester units (or equivalent quarter units) of directly related coursework from a regularly accredited institution will be equivalent to one (1) year of job experience. Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA Non-exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent Benefits are provided to all Contract employees with assignments greater than, or equal to, 50% (0.50 FTE) and all eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period will apply to the employee entering this assignment. Organization

The San Diego Community College District serves 130,000 students annually through three two-year colleges and six Continuing Education campuses. The three colleges, San Diego City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges, offer associate degrees and certificates in occupational programs that prepare students for entry-level jobs, and arts and sciences programs that transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Continuing Education offers adults the opportunity to renew their learning experiences through noncredit vocational, basic skills, life skills and enrichment classes at sites throughout the city. The District also provides education to over 42,000 service personnel at military bases in 15 states. 

The Continuing Education campuses offer adults the opportunity to renew their learning experiences through noncredit vocational, basic skills, life skills, and enrichment classes at sites throughout the city. A number of special programs are unique to the city, including KSDS-FM all-jazz radio, the Center for Competitive and Applied Technologies, and the Workplace Learning Resource Center.

The San Diego Community College District is governed by its five-member, locally elected Board of Trustees and three student members serving on a rotating basis. Shared governance activities involve faculty, students, and staff in the development of solutions to key policy and budget issues. The five trustees are elected in even-numbered years to four-year terms by the voters of San Diego. The Chancellor, the District's chief executive officer, is responsible for carrying out the policies approved by the Board of Trustees. 

The District is in the midst of $1.555 billion in new construction and renovations at the three colleges and Continuing Education campuses throughout the city.
