Job Summary
Responsible for independently performing scientifically focused market research, helping to determine the potential of Georgia Tech (GT) inventions and their applications, and proactively developing strategies for commercializing GT intellectual property. Interact with faculty and industry representatives, maintaining long-term relationships. Use specialized databases to search for companies to license inventions to and act as a resource to GT in finding industry partners. Generate novel approaches to accomplish the goals of this position, integrating with the goals of the office. Create non-confidential marketing materials used to communicate with potential licensees. This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty, staff and graduate students, potential licensees (industry contacts), licensing associates, directors, and external vendors. This position typically will advise and counsel: Licensing associates, associate directors, and directors. This position will supervise: Assigned staff.
ResponsibilitiesJob Duty 1 -
Independently develop and maintain relationships with inventors. Attend meetings to collect and interpret information for marketing. Provide status summaries.
Job Duty 2 -
Interpret the use and value of the GT technology to determine its place in the market. Generate lists of potential licensees and relevant contacts. Create marketing campaigns and summaries.
Job Duty 3 -
Act as the primary point of contact with industry contacts to understand their technical areas of interest. Use in-depth knowledge of the GT invention portfolio to identify potential licensing targets.
Job Duty 4 -
Interface with related groups on campus to gather information helpful for technical marketing for the Office of Technology Licensing to provide technologies of interest to them.
Job Duty 5 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in science-related field or equivalent experience.
Required Experience
Two to four years of job-related experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certified Licensing Professional (CLP), Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP).
Preferred Experience
Science-related Master's degree or equivalent experience.
ABILITIES
Strong ability to manage and maintain effective working relationships with diverse population, ability to perform and effectively make important decisions under pressure. Ability to use personal judgement and operate independently.
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge translating technical information into appropriate marketing summaries; knowledge related to market, commercialization and licensing principles and techniques, procedures, protocols, and standards. Direct experience in a technology transfer office.
SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, people management, problem-solving, customer service, organization, attention to detail, interpersonal relationship building, and creativity skills. Experience with CB Insights, BCC, and Innography preferred.

The salary range for this open position is $52,894.00 - $71,937.00.
