Overview:

Quinnipiac University seeks a seasoned, strategic, and visionary leader for the position of Vice President for Equity, and Inclusion (VPEI). The VPEI will join a university with a trajectory of rapid growth in higher education, committed to advancing inclusive excellence among students, alumni, faculty and staff across every facet of the institution. Reporting to the president, the VPEI will advance efforts to build an even more inclusive and diverse campus community. The VPEI will strengthen the University’s many inclusion and diversity initiatives, develop data tracking and accountability metrics to measure the progress of ongoing efforts and initiatives around equity and inclusion, lead conversations and identify opportunities to improve campus climate, and further engage the entire community around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The successful candidate will be a values-driven and energetic leader with deep understanding of, and demonstrated experience championing issues inherent to inclusion, equity, and diversity within a complex institutional setting. The VPEI will possess the relationship building and operational skills needed to build effective partnerships across campus and various constituencies, and will have experience developing a dynamic culture of equity and inclusion in other organizations. The VPEI must understand equity, inclusion and compliance policies particular to higher education.

Responsibilities: Quinnipiac has taken actionable steps to advance equity, inclusiveness, and social justice as cornerstones of the university. The VPEI will build on these initiatives and existing plans including the 10 Point Plan to Advance Racial Justice and the LGBTQ+ Inclusion Plan. The VPEI will champion the University’s strategic plan with a particular focus on the second pillar committed to advancing inclusive excellence. In addition, the VPEI will oversee the Department of Cultural and Global Engagement and its affiliated functions, and will be a critical partner in advancing the University’s global strategy. Key responsibilities include responsibility for Multicultural Education and Training; Global Education; International Student Services; Title IX; and the Herald Center for Jewish Life.

Education Requirements:

  • An advanced degree or relevant professional expertise in areas such as higher education, organizational leadership, equity and inclusion or a related field

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, and within that, a substantial focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • A demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in higher education and/or a business environment
  • Proven track record of leadership and successful experience in managing teams, collaborating across units, and in developing diverse talent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and develop a diverse community
  • An understanding of the opportunities and challenges shaping higher education
  • Demonstrated success in contributing to, and working collaboratively within, an executive leadership team
