Key Responsibilities :Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President for Business & Finance serves as the Chief Financial Officer, is a member of the President’s Senior Leadership Team, and works closely with all College leadership to strategically advance operational effectiveness while ensuring fiscal integrity and solvency of all College assets. This position manages the areas of business, finance, accounts payable, investments, facilities operations, payroll, and auxiliary services. The Vice President serves as a key advisor to the President and is responsible for preparing financial analysis, long-range budget modeling & forecasting, debt management, risk compliance, and will play a critical role in aligning existing resources and identifying/developing new sources of revenue. This person will serve as the primary liaison with the Board of Trustees Audit, Investment, and Business Affairs Committees. The Vice President will also be arriving at a time when Juniata’s new strategic plan, “All In: The Strategic Plan for Juniata College,” is in its first year.
Essential Functions
•Support the President and Board of Trustees in providing the necessary financial information, strategic advice, and planning to successfully deliver on the College’s mission;
•Partner with College leadership to advance the new strategic plan and financial health of the institution;
•Advise the senior leadership team on financial planning, department budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters;
•Provide vision and leadership in the development and execution of the College’s budget and long-term financial plan;
•Oversight of all activities of the business office, including preparation of the audit, endowment, management of debt, budget forecasting, procurement of goods and services, risk compliance, etc;
•Identify and develop new sources of non-tuition revenue;

The Vice President for Business & Finance will be a bold, creative, and energetic individual with a proven record of progressively responsible leadership. A master’s degree as well as a CPA and/or CFA are preferred. Other key qualifications include:
•Strong background in business, accounting, or financial management;
•Knowledge of all aspects of business affairs and experience with capital projects, bond financing, grants, endowment and asset investment management is required;
•Strong aptitude for financial analysis, financial model-creation, and hands-on metrics management;
•Business acumen to interpret and analyze data to inform business insights, perform financial modeling and scenario planning, and provide strategic guidance;
•The ability to foster and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships;
•Experience with financial systems applications;
•An understanding of applicable rules and regulations coupled with an authentic commitment to compliance with governmental directives;
•Ability and interest to working in a shared governance environment;
•Demonstrated record of effective senior management experience, preferably in a higher education environment;
•Proven track record for visionary leadership that fosters organizational growth and demonstrated success in driving change in complex organizations;
•A collaborative, inclusive, and transparent management style;
•A commitment to being highly visible on campus, coupled with strong interpersonal skills;
•The ability to work days, evenings, and some weekends is required.
This position reports the President.
