Job Summary

Key role in KSU's institutional giving program, helping to develop and implement an overall fundraising strategy to secure new and renewed funding in support of KSU's mission and goals. Responsible for generating over $4 million in annual contributed revenue from corporate and private foundations. Manages a portfolio of over 75 prospects and concentrates on five to six-figure gifts. Primary responsibility is stewarding existing relationships while continuing to grow the portfolio through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of new corporate, foundation and government prospects. Ensures that the various reports required from the funders are completed and are delivered on time. Works with deans and directors of development in assigned colleges to develop funding request strategy for individual colleges and faculty. The unit serves as the clearinghouse for private proposal submissions campus wide.

Responsibilities

1. Researches, cultivates, solicits, and stewards corporate and private foundation donors to achieve fundraising goals
2. Writes, edits, proofreads, and submits grant proposals, letters of inquiry, acknowledgment letters, final reports, budget documents, and other materials
3. Works directly with foundations to solicit gifts and build strong community support for programs at Kennesaw State University
4. Ensures prompt acknowledgment of all gifts related to foundation giving
5. Tracks gifts and goals, meets deadlines for proposals and reporting
6. Maintains accurate records for all actions, gifts, and relationships
7. Plans and produces budget documents, program activity reports and other updates in collaboration with faculty and staff, Kennesaw Research Foundation, other campus and advancement and development partners
8. Works with staff, board, and other internal and external partners to set and achieve goals, produce written materials, and meet grant expectations
9. Represents Kennesaw State University to internal and external partners to grow and maintain key relationships
10. Schedules and coordinates agency site visits with corporate and foundation representatives
11. Participates in and assists with department events and cultivation activities as needed

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted Georgia driver's license

Required Experience
Seven (7) years of experience in foundation relations, development and/or equivalent related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Preferred Experience
Previous experience in higher education foundation relations or development.

Able to manage goals and coordinate contacts within a busy schedule of proposals and with many relationships
Able to demonstrate the creativity of approach and ability to work as a member of a team to craft the right proposal for the funding source
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time, meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of fundraising protocols and regulations
Maintains knowledge and keeps up to date with industry best practices

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Must have strong analytical skills, able to analyze data and develop targeted development strategies and written proposals based on research
Must be extremely organized and able to plan and implement strategies within a complex environment. Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite; Blackbaud system and/or other fundraising systems)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong writing and customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette

Kennesaw State was originally established by the University System of Georgia as Kennesaw Junior College serving 1,000 students.
