General Description:
This is a full-time tenure track instructional assignment in the Industrial Technology department at Merced College under the general direction of the Instructional Dean. The assignment includes maintaining an Automotive Technology program and lab facility appropriate to current procedures and technologies within the industry. The standard teaching load is 15 units per semester, which may include evening hours at both Merced and Los Banos campuses, and other off-campus assignments. The instructional assignment will include teaching the full range of courses in the automotive technology program covering topics that include automotive maintenance, engine performance, emission controls, fuel systems, electrified vehicle technology, suspension, steering and wheel alignment, brakes, air-conditioning and heating, auto electronics, engine rebuilding and repair, automatic and manual transmissions, driveline repair and service advising. The instructor will undertake special training to support this program. Normal duties will include promotion of the program by recruiting students and building strong links with local employers and other potential partners (including high schools, and community colleges) and by seeking industry support in the form of student scholarships, donations and active participation on industry advisory boards.

Required:
OR Associate's degree from an accredited institution AND six (6) years of occupational experience in automotive technology.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Industrial Technology
- Teaching experience in automotive technology
- Current technology skills related to teaching in the discipline and a willingness to pursue future technological developments
