Job Summary

Provide leadership and decision support on all capital and academic planning aspects. Work on the assigned unit and its affiliate organizations in developing and advancing the Unit Master Plan and Unit Visioning. Collaborate on the development of the Comprehensive Sustainability Initiatives and the Strategic Plan of the Institute.

  • This position will interact on a regular basis with unit and department colleagues, colleges, schools, research centers, and other academic and administrative units.
  • This position typically will advise and counsel institute leadership.
  • This position will supervise the project management team.
Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Advise academic and administrative leaders on potential capital planning and space-related initiatives.

Job Duty 2 -

Assist private consultants and facilities project managers on capital and non-capital construction and renovation projects.

Job Duty 3 -

Attend and participate in programming and planning meetings with campus stakeholders, clients, and consultants.

Job Duty 4 -

Develop pre-programming visioning documents and information for decision-making support.

Job Duty 5 -

Direct architectural and landscape design of all buildings, structures, landscape development, open space, plantings, site furnishings, above-ground utilities, and outdoor signage.

Job Duty 6 -

Negotiate and manage contracts developed in support of planning projects.

Job Duty 7 -

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience
Six to eight years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred knowledge and skills include knowledge of college and university organizations and leadership, knowledge of best practices related to pre-planning, planning, programming, design, and construction practices, including budgets, schedules, and space planning in a university setting, and the ability to multitask and consistently complete and follow through on multiple projects and work-related duties.

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Master's degree

Preferred Experience

Ten years of job-related experience.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Licensed Professional (Architect, Landscape Architect, Engineer)

Proposed Salary

Salary: $106,414- $144,723/yr
Job Grade: A13

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Must have experience managing new construction. Must have the operational experience to understand the needs of the team and work with them. Must have operational/facilities management experience in higher education.

SKILLS

This job requires excellent listening skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work successfully in a collaborative and collegial team environment.
