Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Security Officer in the Department of Public Safety.

Duties include, but are not limited to:· Actively patrols assigned area(s).· Directs/regulates pedestrian and vehicle traffic as needed.· Enforces rules/ regulations, issues citations as needed.· While in service, performs visual and manual checks to buildings and grounds for any possible breach in physical security throughout the duration of the shift.· Maintains a mobile, random and highly visible patrol pattern while observing for, and reporting all fires, hazardous conditions, unlawful activity, suspicious persons and/or vehicles.· Responds to calls for service quickly and handles various security and service oriented situations, such as but not limited to: motorist assists, lock outs, escorts, and lock outs. Fills out completely and files appropriate forms.· Cares for all University property, equipment and assigned carts, bicycles and vehicles. Reports any deficiencies to the shift supervisor immediately and actively seeks to have deficiencies repaired or replaced.· Performs gate security, bag checks, pat down searches, metal detector searches, crowd control, VIP security detail, identifies unauthorized / trespassed persons and/or illegal / unauthorized items and denies entry of such to specific areas and/or to the campus.

Requirements: A high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited high school is required. One (1) year of related experience is preferred.

Security Officer (JD15/61122929/FTE-S00811P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 03. Salary range: $23,885.00 – $34,042.00 (midpoint). Work hours vary. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.

Graduation from an accredited high school or G.E.D. equivalent.One (1) year of related experience preferred.

Valid SC Driver’s License.

Must possess good verbal and written skills. Ability to interact successfully within a diverse academic community. Ability to act quickly and intelligently in all situations. Ability to enforce the University’s rules and regulations in an unbiased, fair and amicable manner.
