Kiril Sokoloff Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation &
Special Assistant to the President For Entrepreneurial and Innovation Initiatives

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) seeks applications and nominations of outstanding educators for the Kiril Sokoloff Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation & Special Assistant to the President For Entrepreneurial and Innovation initiatives. The successful candidate will have interests, experience and expertise in curriculum innovation, interdisciplinary studies, and distance education, as well as teaching and scholarly excellence in entrepreneurship or business-related field.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) was chartered on March 16, 1962, as the College of the Virgin Islands — a publicly funded, coeducational, liberal arts institution. In 1972, the College of the Virgin Islands was awarded Land-Grant status by the U.S. Congress. In 1986, the College of the Virgin Islands was renamed the University of the Virgin Islands. That same year, the United States Congress named UVI one of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU); therefore, it holds the distinction of being the only HBCU outside of the continental United States. UVI has six Schools and Colleges, and offers a wide range of associate, bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs as well as professional certificates.

UVI is seeking a teaching faculty member and leader who will ensure that students meet high academic standards in a nurturing and learner-centered environment in keeping with UVI’s HBCU status. Entrepreneurship is weaved into the strategic plan—"Greatness Through Innovation”--and into how UVI wants to operate and run administratively. As the Special Assistant to the President for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Distinguished Professor meets monthly with the President to report on activities and strategize about how to develop entrepreneurship across the University. Appointees must be able to work productively with students and colleagues of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds; serve on the University's committees; and contribute to the achievement of the University's Strategic Plan “Greatness Through Innovation.”

For best consideration, completed applications are due byApril 21, 2023.
