Overview:

The School of Computing and Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences at Quinnipiac University seek an Assistant Teaching Professor to be jointly appointed in Computer Science and Game Design and Development, two areas of growing interest and demand. This position begins in August 2023.

The standard workload will involve teaching four courses a semester, advising students, particularly double majors in Computer Science and Game Design and Development, and serving on committees that aim to enhance the stature of our programs and the quality of the academic experiences we provide.

Ideal candidates will have experience in computer science that includes programming for 3D game engines, and a broad range of technical and creative skills. A candidate's ability to bring relevance to the classroom through their professional experiences and networks is highly desired. We are especially interested in candidates from underrepresented groups, as well as individuals who have experience working with diverse populations.

  • Teach four courses per semester split between Computer Science and Game Development
  • Hold regularly scheduled office hours for students
  • Guide, advise, and mentor students academically and professionally
  • Engage in professional and university service obligations and meetings
  • Education Requirements:
  • A terminal degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related discipline (required before position starts in August 2023)
  • Candidates with masters’ degrees will be considered if they have at least three years of relevant industry experience
  • Qualifications:
  • Experience and ability to teach courses in a wide range of languages and at all levels in both computer science and game development
  • Proficiency in Unity and/or Unreal game engines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of current trends and practices in the fields
  • Ability to create inclusive and engaging learning environments for an increasingly diverse student body
  • Ability to develop games
  • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Demonstrated success in teaching, preferably at college level
    • Experience with online instruction
    • Experience in curriculum design and development
    • Commitment to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community
