POSTING DATE: March 16, 2023 POSITION: Vocational Education Coordinator (Grant Funded) SALARY: $50,544 – 53,577 per year, depending on experience. Plus, excellent fringe benefits QUALIFICATIONS: Required: (Education and Experience) Associate’s Degree in Business, Human Relations, or a related field OR an equivalent amount of education and experience. Preferred: (Education and Experience) Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Relations, or a related field and 3 years of experience in job development and case management in workforce development or a closely related field Bilingual English/Spanish Prior WIOA Experience Additional Eligibility Requirements: (Certifications or industry experience) Must possess or be able to obtain an AZ Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card Must clear a background check with the Arizona Department of Child Safety to obtain access to the state database Must possess and retain a valid Arizona Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and current liability insurance Classification: (exempt or non-exempt) Exempt Position Type & Work Schedule: (Full-time or Part-time, daily hours, number of hours per week, months per year) 12 Month/Full-time position Monday – Friday 37.5 hours a week Possible early morning, evening, and weekend work required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (required to do the job) Ability to be self-directed Ability to conduct successful meeting work Ability to communicate professionally, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting Must be organized Manage project deadlines Demonstrate proficiency in software including but not limited to Google Suites, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel Demonstrate proficiency in Internet usage Demonstrate public speaking skills Demonstrate client-interviewing skills Demonstrate data entry and retrieval skills Demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills to accomplish tasks Social Perceptiveness - Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do Service Orientation - Actively looking for ways to help people Must possess excellent interpersonal skills Must demonstrate excellent self-control and confidence during presentations Must have good listening skills and be able to effectively and clearly communicate (written and verbal) one-on-one and in a group setting Self-disciplined, solution-orientated, team player, and organized Continual learner and deadline-driven Ability to work with a diverse population Able to meet deadlines, utilize computer technology to maintain records, generate reports, and access data Work Environment: (e.g. outside, indoors, noise level, lighting, other work conditions) Indoors, busy office cubicle setting with normal noise and lighting levels Various noise levels for the outdoors and event settings Physical Demands: (e.g. bending, sitting, kneeling, lifting, driving) Able to lift 25lbs Prolonged sitting and viewing of a computer screen Long periods of standing and/or walking Driving where required by the position Travel: (% of time spent traveling and where) 15% or less travel to employers, home visits, recruiting engagements, career fairs, eligibility appointments, ARIZONA@WORK Career Centers, and Yuma County Campuses Note: (location of position or other information not included elsewhere) Grant Funded, position continuation is based on grant funding AWC – Reskilling & Technology Center Benefit eligible SUMMARY OF FUNCTION: Provide career development, education, and advisement services to program participants ensuring vocational training, educational opportunities, career development, and access to resources necessary to transition program participants into long-term career success. TYPICAL DUTIES: Serves Students. Develop customized Individual Education/Employment Plans (IEPs) based on a thorough assessment of program participant needs. Monitor, evaluate & document progress and maintain records in compliance with the Arizona Job Connection – state system and FERPA as it pertains to WIOA requirements. Responsible for program and participant documentation, progress reports, performance measures, and follow-ups as required by WIOA. Advise program participants with the selection of appropriate academic and/or vocational programs through completion and transition to employment. Manage program participants’ individual academic/employment plans based on skills, aptitude, and work experience to prepare participants for employment. Conduct 12 months of follow-up services to ensure job retention and eliminate any barriers that impede on successful retention. Design and deliver customized career services training for both individual and group audiences including but not limited to: career planning, resume & cover letter development, professional interviewing skills & techniques, employment opportunity searches, completing employment applications, financial literacy, and business ethics. Coach and evaluate program participants through training, active job searches, and employment stages. Resolve vocational and training-related barriers and recommend solutions as needed. Liaise with local employers and community resources to develop vocational education and career development opportunities and/or internships with both the private and public sectors for program participants. Make recommendations for continuous improvement of grant applications and reporting. Conduct Eligibility appointments. Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned. CLOSING DATE: The first review of applications will begin on April 3, 2023.
