INTRODUCTION

The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut (UConn) seeks to fill a full-time faculty position at the Storrs campus. This position is for a non-tenure track “In-Residence” faculty, which may lead to long-term multi-year contracts.

The Department of Psychological Sciences, consistent with the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the entire UConn community, has an overriding commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion as a core value and basic tenet. The main campus in Storrs is home to almost 20,000 undergraduate students with an additional 5000 undergraduate students attending one of the four regional campuses located throughout the state.

The successful candidate will provide a teaching portfolio for review that demonstrates expertise in instructing a diverse range of undergraduate students utilizing active and inclusive pedagogical practices and evidence of academic/career advising of undergraduate students. Of particular interest are candidates with a background and teaching experience in introductory psychology as a social science, abnormal, and/or developmental psychology.

The successful candidate will teach seven undergraduate courses per academic year and will work closely with the Psychological Sciences Undergraduate Advising Office and maintain a caseload of advisees. There will be a course reduction depending upon specific advising or other administrative responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field conferred by August 23, 2023.
  • A commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • Experience in advising or mentoring undergraduate students.
  • A commitment to fostering and supporting diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Applicants must provide a teaching portfolio documenting these experiences and commitment to be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.
  • Teaching expertise that complements the following instructional areas of the discipline: developmental and clinical psychology.
  • Evidence of excellence in advising or mentoring undergraduates.
  • Evidence of an interest in continuing previous research activity and/or an interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning as it relates to psychology.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position at the Storrs Campus that may lead to long-term multi-year contracts. This position has an anticipated start date of August 23, 2023. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
