The University of Connecticut School of Social Work is seeking applicants for a full-time position as an Educational Program Assistant 2 in the Office of Student Academic Services (OSAS). The School of Social Work offers degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate levels, and offers classes to non-degree students, as well as certificate programs and workshops. Under the direction of the Director of Strategic Programming, this position provides administrative and program support for the two Connecticut Health Horizons initiatives, School Social Work with predominant responsibility for the MSW Spanish-speaking initiative, Connecticut ¡Adelante! This position will also involve working daily with the OSAS Director and staff to support OSAS program areas. This position will serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff on student admission and academic matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Provides administrative and program support for OSAS and serves as a resource for students, faculty, and staff on student admission and academic matters.
- Responds to inquiries from students, staff, and others on matters relating to administrative procedures and policies, making referrals as appropriate.
- Serves as a liaison between SSW students and other University offices and communicates regularly with University offices regarding student admission and academic matters.
- Manages general office operations; processes and maintains necessary paperwork, records, and student files.
- Collaborates with the OSAS director and staff in the promotion and implementation of programs/events, overseeing the management of specific programs/events assigned, and establishing procedures necessary to implement such programs/events.
- Advises MSW students in matters relating to admission, registration, course selection, program plans, and graduation requirements; troubleshoots and resolves conflicts with course scheduling and registration.
- Processes applications for admission with established guidelines and timelines with a focus on managing Connecticut ¡Adelante! applications.
- Serves as a liaison to the Connecticut ¡Adelante! and School Social Work initiatives.
- Responds to written, telephone, and in-person inquiries and requests for information on degree programs, admission requirements, registration, advising, orientation, graduation, etc.
- Assists in responding to inquiries from sswstudentservices and sswadmissions email accounts.
- Assists with student orientation and graduation activities.
- Helps to prepare recruitment materials and assists in recruitment activities for Connecticut ¡Adelante! and the School of Social Work initiatives.
- Manages confidential records in a professional manner.
- Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 2-3 years of related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide administrative and program support.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and regularly exercise judgment regarding a wide variety of administrative and student matters.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficient writing and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, etc.
- Work experience in a college or university academic setting.
- Familiarity with University of Connecticut/State of Connecticut regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity with student records systems, such as PeopleSoft and Slate.
- Familiarity with student academic regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Candidates must demonstrate Spanish proficiency through an exam.
