Job Description/Responsibilities
The School of Pharmacy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is accepting application packages for a Chair of Pharmacy Practice position. The successful candidate will be responsible for the activities of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, which includes fostering relationships between the pharmacy community and the School of Pharmacy, to provide practice opportunities for faculty and professional experiences for students. The Chair will also provide oversight of the Office of Experiential Education and serve as mentor to practice faculty, encouraging excellence in teaching, service, and multidisciplinary research activities. This position reports directly to the Dean, will serve as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee, and is expected to represent the school in both internal and external constituencies. The Chair will also maintain active teaching and scholarship commensurate with the overall duties and responsibilities of this position.

Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with an advanced degree (PhD, EdD), and one year of residency or fellowship or equivalent experience is required. Eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in the state of Illinois is preferred. All candidates should understand current pharmacy education and practice. A minimum of six years of experience in academia at an ACPE accredited Pharmacy School, with an established academic record commensurate with the rank of associate professor or above is required. Candidates should also have a dedication to excellence in pharmacy education, scholarship and service; an interest in interprofessional initiatives; a commitment to equitable employment; an understanding of the value of an intellectually and culturally inclusive community; and a leadership style that emphasizes openness, consultation, and shared governance. Candidates should display a commitment toward seeking a balance between teaching, scholarship and service within the department and a vested interest in the well-being and resilience of department members. Prior experiences in academic administration, personnel, and budget management are preferred. Knowledge of education, governmental compliance, accreditation, and health regulatory standards is desirable.
