POSITION:
Adjunct Faculty – Phlebotomy Technician Program Pool


Summary of Function:
All aspects of instruction for the healthcare program insuring that materials adhere to all applicable regulating agencies and guidelines.

DESCRIPTION:
Serves Students. Teach Phlebotomy Technician courses as assigned. Instructors are responsible for the daily operation of the program, this includes, lecture, project management and the assignment of reinforcement work for students. May teach evenings and/or weekends as needed. Plans student learning experiences; accomplishes course goals and lesson objectives. Creation and implementation of lesson plans. This may include but is not limited to the lectures, PowerPoints, homework assignments and design of course materials. Instructors teach through both lecture and the practical hands on methods. Courses may include; theory, practical application, skills training or clinical practicum.

Set up and breakdown of equipment for the use during practical skills training. Instructors are required to teach skills in accordance with the Educational Standards and the course syllabi. Ensures scheduling of clinical assignments that assure that students can achieve course objectives for clinical practicum. Prevents a student from perform an activity unless the student has received instruction and been found to competently perform the activity; supervises.

Working with the Director of Allied Health, coordinate regular reviews of program to ensure effectiveness and alignment with college mission and values and in meeting community/workforce needs. Identifies student learning outcomes; develops processes and tools for assessment; incorporates results in order to modify instruction and materials in general education, degree program, course cluster, and/or certificate programs in coordination with colleagues.

Attends and participates in staff meetings, committees, and division planning. Participates in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain competence.

Support and participate in strategic initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:

• Certified as a Phlebotomist in the State of Arizona as appropriate for program assignment.
• Two years professional experience as a Phlebotomist and must have proficient experience with administrative office work as well as clinical skills.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Must have the knowledge to teach and train for Phlebotomy Technician skills.
• Must have the knowledge to prepare students for clinical rotations.


Work Environment:
• Instructor will work inside in a laboratory setting.


Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
• Instructor will have time spent sitting, standing and bending.


Travel:
• 5% travel to advisory meeting or clinical rotation sites.
