Job Responsibilities

Trident Technical College's IT-Infrastructure Services department seeks an IT Security Administrator. As the IT Security Administrator, this position will design and develop security solutions and procedures to address IT risks and compliance requirements; analyze business requirements to assess technical feasibility and solutions of security systems and processes; and participate during each phase of systems development projects, ensuring that security requirements are determined and implemented based on threats and business objectives To include developing and validating enterprise baseline security configurations based on industry standards and best practices for on-premises and hosted (i.e., cloud) technology systems and services, operating systems, applications, networking, and telecommunications equipment. Instrumental in the creation and execution of security plans and procedures to ensure all systems, products, and services meet agency security standards and service objectives. Analyzes current security processes and procedures to identify and make formal recommendations towards gains in security, efficiency, and cost savings. As a subject matter expert associated with highly technical security content, processes, and procedures, this position will consult with users and management to effectively measure and accurately report on information security risks through audit and assessment of security controls, processes, and routines.


Duties include:

· Evaluates IT environments and recommends, implements, and validates security measures and practices that meet policies and standards and safeguard information assets.
· Leads cyber security preparation, prevention, detection, and response efforts and ensures technical cyber security controls are in place.
· Performs risks and vulnerability assessments.
· Creates security plans, architecture, and standards.
· Manages SOC/NOC functions.
· Implements technical security controls and frameworks.
· Develops roadmaps and conduct yearly budget forecasting for maintenance, upgrades, and projects.
· Conducts and manages procurements and vendor-provided products, services, and relationships.
· Collaborates in a security-focused, projectized environment.
· Stays abreast of new technologies and advises College executives on strategic uses of technology.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and experience in information technology systems or related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Preferred candidate will have a bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and three (3) years experience in information technology systems or security -focused role.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor's degree in telecommunications, business administration (information technology), computer science (information technology), mathematics, statistics, or management information science and experience in telecommunications, data processing and/or information technology. Candidate will possess advanced knowledge of security administration for various operating systems and software and can develop project plans for information security systems. They have advanced technical knowledge of applications, operating systems, network hardening, vulnerability assessments, security audits, and firewalls. Demonstrates an ability to communicate cyber security concepts, frameworks, and design principles to audiences outside the field and with all levels of the campus community. Prefer experience with Cisco, Microsoft, or other enterprise security products, Cisco networks, Azure cloud infrastructure; Information security-related professional certification; Familiarity with NIST 800-53, CIS Critical Security Controls Framework, and PMI project management methodology.
