Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job:

Full-time tenure-track (9 month) position will teach 9 credit hours each Fall and Spring in the School of Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching Curriculum & Instruction courses and/or courses in literacy; embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community through high-quality, integrated teaching, scholarship, and service. Contribute to the program as a collaborative member of the department; engage and collaborate in research and program development; continue the program’s history of having a positive impact on a state, regional, national, and international level. Act as content expert and liaison in the area of English/Language Arts, Social Studies, or Math at the secondary school level; and provide dedicated support for working with various student populations.

Educational Requirements for the Position:

Ph.D./Ed.D. in Education, in Curriculum & Instruction or closely related field (ABD candidates may apply but must have the degree completed by the fall 2023 start date).

Experience Required for the Position:

Must hold or be eligible for state public school teaching certification and have a minimum of three (3) years public secondary school teaching experience. Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and a willingness to communicate current trends in the field to students and other constituencies.

Other Requirements for the Position:

Preferred Qualifications include:
• 18 graduate hours in reading or literacy for secondary students;• At least 3 years experience teaching reading in K-12 schools’• Certification or ability to obtain Texas teaching credentials;• Evidence of emerging research agenda;• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the university level;• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence online and/or hybrid courses;• Strong working knowledge of academic social science research methodologies; and• Familiarity with teacher education accreditation standards;• History of supervising field experiences;• Ability to build productive professional relationships with public schools, colleges, and local communities
