Duties and Responsibilities :The Department of Natural Sciences is seeking excellent candidates for a tenure track position as the Assistant Professor in Biomedical Sciences. The candidate must demonstrate experience in Animal Biotechnology and Research, with emphasis on Vaccine Design & Synthesis. The candidate should have at least 3 to 4 years of postdoctoral level research experience, with active and recent publications in these fields of discipline. The successful candidate should have sound/extensive knowledge and research experience in antibody engineering, hybridoma technology, and protein purification. Experience in working on animal models is an asset but not critical. The successful faculty candidate should also have experience in immunology, protein biochemistry, cell biology, gene cloning, and gene editing (preferred). In addition to active and recent publications, the successful candidate should demonstrate experience in writing grants. The candidate will support departmental core course instruction for graduate students, covering topics related to animal biotechnology, biochemistry, vaccines, and cell biology. The candidate should also be able to provide instruction to undergraduate students, as needed. The candidate will establish a productive and vibrant student-based research program in the area of vaccine development and will contribute to scholarly research activities and provide mentorship to both graduate and undergraduate students in research activities. The candidate will also support various departmental services such as active contributions to student advisement and the promotion of the graduate program to undergraduate students and external partners. Candidate must be ready to be an active participant in departmental and University-wide committees. Our student-focused department requires a candidate with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and coordination, who can actively engage in research and writing grants. The candidate should:
- Provide instruction in Applied Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, and Animal Biotechnology courses, and related advanced-level electives with a strong commitment to curriculum transformation and excellence in teaching both at graduate/undergraduate levels.
- Establish a productive, student-centered, graduate and undergraduate research program in the area of animal biotechnology with an emphasis on research tools development.
- Incorporate learning activities into the research program.
- Actively write scientific research grants to secure funding.
- Active participant in scholarly activities, advisement, and mentorship of students, with active service on committees.

- Postdoctoral fellowship experience in Vaccine design and synthesis is required.
- Experience in teaching introductory as well as advanced biotechnology courses in the field will be preferred.
Education:
Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or related field(s) required.
- Strong research profile in Animal Biotechnology, with a focus on Vaccine design and synthesis and related fields required.
- Excellence in Animal Biotechnology/Vaccine research, as shown by quality publications and articles in the top journals required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work in teams.
- Evidence of strong commitment to excellence in teaching, technology application in the classroom, and capability of establishing collaborative research programs involving undergraduate students is preferred but not required
- Evidence of experience spearheading or participating in experiential learning models is a plus.
- Experience working with various stakeholders, such as students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Experience working with underrepresented minorities in STEM is preferred but not required.
- Experience in obtaining funded grants is preferred.
- Strong candidates will be a team players and possess leadership potential.
