This is a 12-month non-tenure-accruing position that will be 100% teaching (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences), available in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida. This assignment may change in accordance with the needs of the unit. Duties will include (1) teach (on campus and online) lecture and teach/coordinate speaking laboratory sections of AEC3030C Effective Oral Communication in Agricultural and Life Sciences, (2) teach (on campus and online) lecture and teach/coordinate writing laboratory groups of AEC3033C Research and Business Writing in the Agricultural and Life Sciences, and (3) contribute to the Department's overall goals in scholarship and research. The faculty member will seek contract and grant funding actively to support their program. The faculty member will engage in Extension activities in their program area.

The successful candidate will engage in scholarly activities related to instruction, including teaching undergraduate courses, mentoring undergraduate students, participating in curriculum revision and enhancement, seeking funding for the teaching program, supervising undergraduate research and creative work, publishing teaching-related scholarship, producing learning tools, and engaging in professional development activities related to teaching and advising. Faculty are encouraged to support and participate in the CALS Honors Program, distance education, and international education.

Background Information:

The Department of Agricultural Education and Communication is a comprehensive academic unit in the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) at the University of Florida and has diverse teaching, research, and extension education programs with 26 faculty members and 14 support personnel located on the Gainesville campus. An additional three faculty members directing the department's program at the UF/IFAS Plant City location. Commensurate with Education and Experience

Minimum Requirements:

A master's degree (foreign equivalent acceptable) in agriculture and/or natural resources education and communication, communication or a closely related discipline is required. Demonstrated effectiveness or clear promise in teaching at the undergraduate level. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships, and procurement of extramural funding. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Candidates must also have a commitment to IFAS core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability.

Preferred Qualifications:

A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in agricultural and/or natural resources education and communication or a closely related discipline and previous teaching and program coordination experience is preferred. Experience in the business, industry, and/or non-profit sector is desirable.
