Overview

This person will instruct and evaluate student performance in electrical and mechatronics technologies. This person will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction and student advising in the Electrical and Mechatronics Technology programs.

Qualifications

Education:

-Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering Technology or related technical discipline. (Minimum)-Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Adult Education or related technical discipline (Desired)-Formal coursework in education. (Desired);

-Successful completion of the Pennsylvania Vocational Trade Competency Examination. (Desired)  

Experience:

-Four (4) years trade experience, which must include experience in electrical construction; installation and service of electrical, electromechanical, and electronics equipment systems; and/or mechatronics system maintenance. (Minimum)

-Proficient in the National Electrical Code (NEC). (Minimum) -Teaching experience at the community college/college/university level. (Desired)  

Abilities and Skills:

-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)-Ability to provide quality instruction. (Minimum)-Developed organizational skills. (Minimum)-Possession of a valid driver’s license. (Minimum)

Responsibilities

-Instruct and evaluate student performance in electrical, mechatronics and related courses. (Essential)-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate up-to-date records on students. (Essential)-Provide coordination and supervision for instructional projects. (Essential)-Maintain office hours according to the contractual guidelines. (Essential)-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)-Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential)-Requisition supplies, materials, tools, equipment, and maintenance as appropriate. (Essential)-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)-Contribute to the betterment of the College through Department, Division and School committee participation. (Essential)-Contribute to the betterment of the College through College-wide committee participation. (Essential)-Assist with the development of grant proposals and with follow-up activities. (Essential)-Comply with College safety, hazardous waste disposal, and recycling policies. (Essential)-Assist the Electrical Department Head in developing instructional material lists, equipment specifications, department budget requests, and in planning master schedule proposal. (Essential)-Assist in providing tours and student recruitment activities scheduled by the College, School and/or Electrical department. (Essential)-Assist the Dean, Assistant Dean, and/or Department Head with the development and maintenance of learning assessment plans and documentation. (Essential)

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

Physical Standards:

-Some lifting, not to exceed 40 lbs., may be required.-Some working from ladders may be required.

-Finalists for this position must present a sample lesson.-Candidates for teaching position must be fluent in the English language (oral and written) – English Fluency in Higher Education Act (Pennsylvania Senate Bill 539/Act No. 76).-The terms and conditions of employment for this position are subject to all the provisions of the bargaining agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.-Position is subject to a background check.

Pay TransparencyCommensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2022/23 academic year is $58,001 – $75,775. The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association. If you are currently receiving an annuity from the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System, employment at Pennsylvania College of Technology may affect your annuity status. If you are currently a member of either the State or Public School Employees’ Retirement System you may be required to contribute into the System.College Statement
