This position coordinates our Center for Teaching and Learning and guides faculty in use of instructional technology tools. This includes providing suggestions, coaching and education on the most effective inclusive teaching strategies and how to implement best practices to meet these objectives. In addition, this role supports and maintains a high level of professional development offerings in a manner which fosters innovation and continual improvement of high-quality teaching and learning.

Required Skills

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Master's Degree in a field related to instructional design, education, higher education or educational technology is preferred.
  2. Successful teaching experience and commitment to working with a diverse population of students and staff.
  3. Demonstrated excellence in communication and presentation skills, both oral and written, which transcend diverse audiences.
  4. Maintain and support the organizational culture of customer service to support students and other departments/leadership.
  5. Highly motivated and solution oriented with demonstrated ability as a flexible planner with integrity and creative problem-solving skills.
  6. A passion for continuous learning and a dedication to support student success through the mission of the College.
  7. Prefer minimum of two years teaching experience at the college level.
  8. Prefer minimum of two years of work experience related to instructional design, distance learning and instructional technology in a community college setting.
  9. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead project/event teams.
  10. Demonstrated experience using LMS tools in course design.
  11. Must be able to work additional hours during peak times or as needed, including availability through all semesters during the academic year.

Essential Function:

Coordinator of Center for Teaching and Learning

  • Organize, communicate and implement workshops, seminars, special events, and presentations for professional development of all faculty in a manner fostering innovation and continual improvement of high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Chair the Faculty Seminar Days committee and manage semi-annual Faculty Seminar Days events at the beginning of each semester.
  • Chair the Distance Education Advisory Committee.
  • Organize and manage orientation programs for new faculty.
  • Maintain an inviting environment within the Center for Teaching and Learning facilities that encourages collaboration and participation among faculty.
  • Supervise and collaborate with the Instructional Support Technician.

Instructional Designer

  • Guide faculty in inclusive pedagogy. This includes providing course design assistance, feedback, coaching and education on the most effective teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Coordinate the college’s process for new online instructors and online course review. This includes chairing the review committee and providing communication of the committee’s findings to faculty.
  • Research and evaluate new tools for active learning and assisting faculty in creating learning activities and content for classes using all delivery methods.
  • Assess new instructional technology tools and communicate findings to faculty.
  • Use creativity and innovation to bring fresh ideas to the design of robust and engaging course content across disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
