Department:AthleticsSalary:DOECity/State:Hawkins, TexasEducation:Bachelor'sType:Full-TimeExperience:3+ yearsWork Schedule:M-F and some weekendsContact Name:Danielle DelintContact Email:hrinfo@jarvis.eduDate Posted:09/06/2023Description:POSITION TITLE: Assistant Baseball Coach and JV Baseball CoachQUALIFICATIONS:•Bachelor’s degree in related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning •Three years of University basketball experience, preferably University coaching experience •CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months •Valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured to drive University vehicles required•Computer skills essential with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs•Effective organizational, written/oral communication and interpersonal skills •Knowledge of and ability to follow University policies and procedures •Knowledge of intercollegiate baseball programs •Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously•Ability to work in adverse conditions, weekends, and evenings •Ability to promote a positive atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation both within the University and the community •Ability to effectively supervise the work of others •Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems while maintaining confidentiality •Strong personal work ethic and high level of personal integrity RESPONSIBILITIES:•Assists the Head Baseball Coach with day-to-day activities associated with the program including, but not limited to, recruitment, on-the-floor coaching, video work, and community involvement;•Provides leadership for all aspects of the baseball program to ensure a highly competitive and successful program;•Supports the academic mission of the University and demonstrates a strong commitment to the retention, academic success, and graduation of student-athletes;•Assists with student-athlete eligibility certification and completion of forms and medical exams, and provide NAIA reports to the Compliance Office as required;•Maintains current knowledge and abides by NAIA and RRAC rules, policies, and procedures.•Serves as a role model to mentor team members to develop and display appropriate behavior and sportsmanship expected of athletic teams and individuals representing JCU; •Observes athletes during practice and competition to identify opportunities for individual or team improvement;•Teaches players specific tasks and skills before, during, and after practice; •Schedules contests and reviews films of other teams; •Supports and monitors academic performance and social development of the student athletes;•Assists with recruitment of new student athletes including, but not limited to, attends off-campus games for the purpose of contact and evaluation, manages recruitment material mailings, maintains contact and plans campus visits with prospective student athletes; •Coordinates all enrollment activities for the baseball program’s student athletes; •Participates in athletic development and fundraising activities for athletics programs; •Supports leadership development, team development, and community service; •Provides quality coaching and instruction to students participating in the men’s basketball program; •Attends scheduled baseball practices and competitions;•Provides ongoing oversight of student athlete’s conduct both on and off the field; •Assists with conflict resolution; •Reviews institutional policy on accident reporting and insurance procedures;•Assists coach in ensuring that all students and prospects have had physicals;•Assists in instructing team managers on proper care, maintenance of supplies, equipment, and facilities;•Attends assigned University, department, and division meetings as required;•Assists with monitoring inventory, selection, care and maintenance of supplies and equipment;•Assists in recruiting student athletes who can achieve academic and athletic success; and assists student athletes in realizing individual and team goals; •Assists with the development of positive interpersonal relationships including campus integration with other students and faculty; •Enforces safety regulations and procedures through supervision of students involved in the program;•Stays abreast of rule changes in the sport; and•Performs other duties as neededQUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS•DemonstratesoTrustworthinessoConfidenceoEnthusiasmoInitiativeoFlexibilityoSound work ethics•Proven SkillsoListening skillsoTeam player
