Definition of Classification:

Armacost Library seeks a Systems & Technology Librarian to support library systems infrastructure and initiatives related to teaching, learning, and research technologies. This position provides support and oversight of library systems infrastructure, serves as a resource for faculty and students in exploring and developing digital projects and/or initiatives related to teaching and learning with new technologies, and provides outreach and instructional workshops to assist faculty with incorporating library resources and tools into their courses. The person in this role will build partnerships inside and outside the library related to systems and digital initiatives in ways that cultivate high-impact learning experiences and advance student success and retention efforts. In addition to this functional role, the Systems & Technology Librarian is a subject liaison providing reference, instruction, collection development, outreach and scholarly communication support to assigned academic programs.

The University:

The University of Redlands is a private, comprehensive liberal arts and professional institution with approximately 2,500 undergraduate students in the residential College of Arts and Sciences and 500 graduate students in the School of Business and Society. It is located sixty miles east of downtown Los Angeles, in a town of 70,000. The campus is surrounded by orange groves and sits at the base of the San Bernardino mountains, one hour from ski resorts, one hour from the coast and 45 minutes from Palm Springs. Light rail into downtown Los Angeles and coastal areas is available.

Experience/Training/Education:

Specific position responsibilities include:

Maintain, update and evaluate library and archives systems including Ex Libris Alma/Primo, OCLC Ezproxy, PastPerfect, Ubiquity Repository, Ubiquity Journals, and the Springshare suite
Collaborate with colleagues within and beyond the library department
Lead people-centered system migration initiatives
Assess user behavior and needs related to library technology at University of Redlands
Monitor and advise the library on technological developments that impact libraries
Coordinate system implementation and migration projects, working in partnership with colleagues across the library and with campus IT
Provides the full range of subject liaison support (reference, instruction, collection development, outreach, scholarly communication) for assigned disciplines
Supervise staff, interns or student workers as assigned to support systems and digital support services
Engage in a program of scholarship and service commensurate with the University’s standards for faculty promotion
Contribute to University and broader professional communities (e.g. Code4Lib)
Required qualifications:

ALA accredited Masters in Library Science or international equivalent
Knowledge of project management best practices
Experience facilitating and working in cross-disciplinary project teams
Familiarity with UX, web design and accessibility principles
Familiarity with EZProxy or other access authentication systems
Preferred qualifications:

At least 2 years of experience overseeing cloud-based library systems
Experience with collaborative library technology implementation or migration initiatives
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and client- or server-side programming languages (e.g. Python, PHP, AngularJS)
Familiarity with critical systems librarianship concepts
Knowledge of data structure, metadata formats and standards
Demonstrated experience in research assistance and library instruction
Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students
