Position
The Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Iowa invites applications for two academic-year visiting instructor/professor positions in the Elementary Education program. The positions will begin August 16, 2023.
Description
These are full-time academic-year (9 month) visiting instructor/professor positions with a two-year appointment beginning August 16, 2023. The successful applicant will be expected to teach the equivalent of 3-4 courses per semester, in Elementary Education, and work with our field experiences for students in the program. Faculty are required to engage in at least 4 hours per semester of collaboration with teachers in contributing to instruction in K12 classrooms.
Education Requirements
An earned master’s degree by August 1, 2023 in Elementary Education or a related discipline.
Required Qualifications
(1) Teaching experience in elementary education in school settings; (2) demonstrated commitment to working and collaborating with culturally, linguistically, racially, and socioeconomically diverse populations; (3) experience in building partnerships with local schools and communities.
Desirable Qualifications
(1) Evidence of effective teaching abilities in teacher education in higher education; (2) licensure in Elementary Education (3) demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racist teacher education (4) Terminal degree in Elementary Education or related discipline.
Salary

About the Department and Elementary Education
The Department of Teaching and Learning (T & L) at the University of Iowa includes over 35 faculty members and 900 students. The Elementary Education Program provides instruction to over 400 students each year. The program includes four literacy courses and a practicum. Elementary Education started the Teacher Education Program, a new pathway for first year students at UI to begin introductory coursework. The Teacher Education Program implements Core Principles that focus on equity and justice-oriented education. The Department has an active Solidarity Committee to support and guide work on equity and anti-racist education in the Teacher Education Program.
