Job OverviewThe Department of Sociology at the University of Cincinnati invites applicants for a one-year, full-time position as Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning August 1, 2023. We seek candidates who can teach undergraduate courses in: race and ethnicity; gender and sexuality; or quantitative research methods. We anticipate that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach at least one graduate-level course. Sociology is a PhD-granting department with about 150 majors and minors and 40 active PhD students.

This position will not be eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Functions
  • This position carries a 2/2 teaching load.
  • Courses may be taught online or face-to-face, depending on departmental needs.
Minimum RequirementsMust have all of the following prior to the effective date of appointment:

  • PhD in Sociology or a closely related field.
  • At least two semesters as instructor of record at the college level.
  • Strong commitment and/or contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
