The University of Florida's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for the position of Visiting Lecturer in the area of Christianity within the Department of Religion for the 2023-2024 academic year, August 16, 2023 to May 15, 2024. The appointment will be for one-year with the possibility of a one-year renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and funding.

We seek a visiting lecturer with expertise in the area of Christianity, which could include early/classical Christianity, the history of Christianity, contemporary Christianity within different contexts, and Christianity in relation to migration, gender, race, environmental issues, etc. More specifically we are searching for candidates who can teach courses like Introduction to Christianity; New Testament; the Christian Gospels; Early Judaism and Christianity; American Catholicism, and more topical courses like Race, Religion, Rebellion; African-American Religion; Religion and the Immigrant Experience. We anticipate that prospective candidates will demonstrate teaching experience in these areas. The successful candidate is expected to teach three courses per semester, one of which will be Introduction to Christianity.

Expected Salary:

The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

PhDs (applications from candidates with ABD will be accepted) from the discipline of Religion or other relevant disciplines

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Religion or other relevant disciplines.
