Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) invites applications for a full-time, Associate Professor or full Professor position in the area of Chamber Music, beginning on August 15, 2023. Tenure status, rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will carry the title of Ohio Eminent Scholar under the auspices of an initiative intended to recruit highly accomplished individuals from outside the state of Ohio into areas of existing strength at the university that are also of strategic value to the state. The Ohio Eminent Scholar must be a new hire to Ohio universities or colleges and may not be currently employed within the state of Ohio.

Essential Functions

The successful candidate will:

  • Maintain and further develop a premier chamber music program within CCM, which offers a BM, MM, DMA and AD in different performance areas at CCM.
  • Take a leadership role in enhancing and strengthening the reputation of CCM’s chamber music program areas.
  • Coach chamber music groups, give chamber music masterclasses and provide excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and education.
  • Contribute to scholarly activities within academic communities across the university, including making performances/lectures available in different university venues.
  • Broaden CCM’s chamber music reputation; foster opportunities for student performances on and off campus, prepare for and/or host competitions, and perform as part of the CCM chamber music area.
  • Contribute to the discipline through engagement in significant professional activities including maintaining regional, national and international visibility in chamber music, external masterclasses and summer programs.
Minimum Requirements

Prior to the effective date of the appointment, the successful candidate must have:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in music performance or a related field
and
• A total of five academic years of post-degree experience. Such experience must include five academic years as a coach of chamber music at the collegiate level as well as five seasons of chamber music performances, which can, but need not be, contemporaneous to the coaching experience.
