Assistant or Associate Professor of Instruction, Graphic & Interactive Design, Non-Tenure Track Appointment

 

The Department of Graphic and Interactive at Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University invites applications for a full-time, academic year 2023–24 non-tenure-track, renewable faculty position in Graphic & Interactive Design beginning in Fall (August) 2023.

The position requires a strong commitment to teaching and demonstrates a broad perspective on the field of graphic design. Candidates should have expertise in at least one of the following areas of focus: branding, typography, motion design, illustration, user experience design, user interface design, information design, experiential design, or emerging technologies such as AR or VR. Additional responsibilities may include administrative duties and curriculum development.

Tyler’s Graphic & Interactive Design Department has 8 full-time faculty members with specializations in analog and digital design. The Graphic & Interactive Design Department is part of the highly ranked Tyler School of Art and Architecture. Successful candidates can tap into the synergy among the programs in the school, which include Studio Art, Architecture, Art History, Community Development, and others. The candidate will also have the opportunity to create new alliances with other schools within Temple University.

Tyler is located on Temple University’s main Philadelphia campus and is housed in a state-of-the-art facility. Temple offers the resources of a major research university in a culturally rich city and region.  

Qualifications: An MFA or professional equivalent at the time of hire and a minimum of two years of successful teaching experience, either full time or as an adjunct faculty member. 

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. No letters are required in the initial application. 

Review of applications begins on March 22nd. The position will remain open until filled. The target date to begin is fall 2023.
