Job Details

Ithaca College’s Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training invites applications for a one-year full time Instructor position from candidates with a specialty in Sport and Exercise Psychology/Mental Performance to join a collaborative, growing department beginning August 16, 2023.  The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in sport and exercise psychology along with mental performance; teaching courses in other areas within Exercise Science as appropriate for the candidate’s expertise and the department’s needs; mentoring thesis and research projects.  Scholarship and service activities are not required for this position but would be supported.  Ithaca College continually strives to build an inclusive and welcoming community of individuals, with diverse talents and skills from a multitude of backgrounds, who are committed to civility, mutual respect, social justice, and the free and open exchange of ideas.

QUALIFICATIONS:  PhD in Sport Psychology/Mental Performance or related field preferred at the time of appointment. However, ABD candidates who have made significant progress towards completion of the degree are also strongly encouraged to apply.  College teaching, mentoring or applied/clinical experiences preferred.  CMPC certification preferred.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:  The Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training at Ithaca College consists of 13 full-time faculty, housed in the Center for Health Sciences. Programs within the department enjoy state-of-the-art facilities, including 3 athletic training clinics, a wellness center, and dedicated spaces for teaching and research in athletic training, human anatomy, neuromuscular control, exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sport psychology. An undergraduate degree (B.S.) in Exercise Science with concentrations in Sports Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Strength & Conditioning is offered.  Graduate (M.S.) degrees are offered in Athletic Training (Professional Program) and Exercise and Sport Sciences (with concentration areas in Mental Performance and Human Performance).

Hiring range:  $60,000 - $185,000 (commensurate with qualifications and experience)
