We seek a faculty member to teach sport management courses beginning in Fall 2023. This position may be offered as a tenure-track or non-tenure track, depending on the candidate’s academic credentials and professional experiences. Excellence in teaching is valued at the highest level, and evidence of commitment to applied learning is required. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty colleagues to teach courses in Sport Management and other related courses to achieve the Institution’s Strategic Plan and to mentor and advise students. This is a 9-month position teaching face-to-face and online course delivery to traditional and non-traditional students. There is also the opportunity to work with students both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, fulfilling service and professional development as outlined in the tenure process, student development by advising and fostering relationships with students both in and out of the classroom, and participating in student recruiting and retention initiatives. Other principal duties include leading in the development of new programs and the improvement of existing programs and curricula, supporting efforts to increase access and success in higher education for underrepresented students, as well as supporting the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Indiana Institute of Technology.

The preferred faculty member will hold a Ph.D. or ABD in Sport Management or a related field with an expected completion date of fall 2023. Candidates with a master's degree and at least five years of relevant sport industry experience will be considered for a non-tenure track Professor of Practice. Teaching experience is expected, and college-level teaching experience is preferred. Experience in working with professional and semi-professional organizations and professional industry experience are preferred.

Demonstration of the ability to work with a diverse student population, and demonstration of developing effective relationships with students that prepare students for academic and career success are necessary. Applicants should be able to use technology effectively in all aspects of their work, including teaching.
