Visiting Assistant Professor of Art and Design

Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Visual Arts is seeking applications for a two-year full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Art and Design. The position will begin in August 2023 and will have the option of being extended for a third year.The selected candidate will teach introductory level design courses to visual art majors and minors. In this course students gain an understanding of typography, page layout, image editing, and time-based media through an introduction to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Proficiency in Adobe Suite is required. Participation in department and college service will be encouraged. Candidates ideally will have an MFA/terminal degree in graphic design/visual communication, visual arts, or related fields. Undergraduate teaching experience and a record of research and professional activity in the field of design is preferred. All candidates are expected to contribute to the diversity of our curriculum and community.The Department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History, Art Studio, and Graphic Design and the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Art and Visual Communication Design as well as several minors. This highly collaborative and active department encourages close-knit classroom experiences and promotes experiential learning that highlights faculty areas of expertise and research.
