The Department of Biology at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-accruing position with the working title of Instructional Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2023 in the area of undergraduate genetics or animal physiology. This is a renewable appointment with the possibility of promotion based on experience and merit.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach undergraduate courses (including online courses) in the areas of genetics, or animal physiology, and related fields, will teach collaboratively with other members of the department, and will partner with the department to promote active learning as well as participate in another departmental service.

Advertised Salary:
The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biology or related life science, or in education with an emphasis on biology or STEM.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with at least one semester of teaching experience at the college level, but exceptional applicants at the Ph.D. level without this may be considered. Preference will also be given to applicants with interest and experience in pedagogical research and evidence-based teaching practices.

A complete application includes: (1) a one-page cover letter summarizing the applicant's qualifications and interests in the department, (2) a complete curriculum vitae, (3) a list of courses the applicant is prepared to teach, and a sample syllabus for a Genetics course for Biology majors, or an animal physiology course, and (4) a statement of teaching philosophy, which includes evidence of excellence in teaching or a teaching portfolio, (5) a statement of the applicant's commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion (up to two pages), and (6) a list of at least three references. After initial review, confidential letters of recommendation will be requested from references. Applications will be reviewed beginning March 15, 2023 and the position will remain open until filled.
