Detailed Job Description
The Associate Director of Faculty and Program Affairs oversees all RIT Certified faculty affairs, including recruitment, appointment, onboarding and training, technology setup, payroll and other HR tasks, and ensures compliance with RIT Certified policies and procedures. This position serves as the liaison to faculty for any academic or business concerns. They also manage data and reporting on staffing needs and faculty job performance.
The Associate Director of Faculty and Program Affairs directs the operation and delivery of the RIT Certified academic portfolio. Collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organization, and with external partners, this position manages program affairs to ensure operational continuity and efficiency. This includes determining the RIT Certified course schedule across all platforms and modalities, including assignment of students to sections, faculty appointment, space and resource allocation, number, timing, and sequence of course sections, and course start and end dates; publicizing the course schedule; and modifying the schedule in response to complex and dynamic academic and business needs. This role also manages the setup of internal offerings and coordinates their timely and efficient launch and delivery. They play an important role in operations strategy by identifying opportunities for improvement in course delivery and portfolio management.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all RIT Certified faculty affairs, including:
- Recruitment, which entails publicizing vacancies, evaluating candidates, and making hiring and compensation recommendations to the Academic Director
- Appointment
- Onboarding
- Payroll and HR, which entails coordinating faculty payroll with the financial analyst in response to events such as schedule changes or retraction of an appointment due to low enrollment, and keeping faculty informed of all events affecting their work
- Serving as the liaison to faculty for any academic or business concerns. This includes clarifying RIT Certified academic or business policies and resolving or escalating issues as they arise. Issues may include those pertaining to technology or supplies, assisting faculty in resolving student concerns, ensuring the proper function and accessibility of learning materials, and resolving faculty scheduling conflicts. The liaison function also includes facilitating interaction between program developers, instructors, and various teams to launch new offerings.
Work independently to direct operations of the RIT Certified academic portfolio.
- Allocate space, learning materials, and technology to students and faculty
- Monitor new course progress and launch
- Maintain partner relationships and run schedules for external delivery platforms including edX
- Provide assistance, information, and direction to instructors/facilitators, staff, and university partners throughout the delivery process
- Monitor learner enrollment in collaboration with the Registration and Billing team
- Monitor learner experience and instructional quality while offerings run
- Monitor RIT Certified website course information to ensure accuracy and consistency
Determine and report the RIT Certified course schedule.
- Determine faculty availability
- Determine course start and end dates
- Determine the number, timing, and sequence of course sections in collaboration with Registration and Billing team
- Develop and implement policies, rules, and processes related to maintaining program run schedules
- Report the schedule to the Academic Director for review and modification
Manage, analyze, and report data pertaining to portfolio performance, instructional quality, and academic staffing.
- Design and export reports from data residing in Certified's CRM, LMS, and data warehouse
- Run pre-existing custom reports
- Perform descriptive analysis on data and generate custom reports to identify trends in portfolio performance and instructional quality
- Input and analyze data on instructional quality and identify trends to inform staff development
Determine and manage the organizational response to unanticipated events related to course delivery.

Minimum Qualifications
- 3 years of administrative and/or program management experience, including previous demonstrated success in an education role, with experience in learning delivery and facilitation.
- Previous experience with student support systems and development of talent pools.
