Duties:Trio Upward Bound is a federally funded program that provides services designed to improve academic, career, and personal skills to prepare first-generation (neither parent has a four year degree) and low-income high school students to be successful in high school and college.
The Tutor will be responsible for assisting students at Eisenhower High School (Blue Island, IL) and Richards High School (Oak Lawn, IL) in enhancing their skills in all subject areas that will prepare 9th -12th grade students for their current academic classes, and the ACT/PSAE/SAT exams.
Currently enrolled college student at sophomore level or above, required; Grade of B or better in the subject area to be tutored and recommendation from instructors in the field to be tutored, required.
The Upward Bound Tutor will be required to assist in enhancing basic academic and SAT/ACT skills.
Other responsibilities will include assisting students with academic and career goal-setting and planning, providing role modeling for students, and sharing personal expertise/experiences.
- Demonstrated responsibility, desire to help others, flexibility, open-minded non-judgmental attitude
- Ability to provide tutoring on a flexible schedule including potential evening/weekend sessions, required
- Background similar to that of participants, preferred.
