The Department of Modern & Classical Languages at the University of Houston invites applications for a full-time, promotion-eligible, non-tenure track position in Arabic, beginning Fall 2023.  We are looking for a colleague with a Ph.D. in Arabic language, linguistics, pedagogy or related specialization. Experience with second language acquisition is strongly desired.  The primary responsibility for this position is teaching language courses with a teaching load of 12-13 hours per semester. Additional duties may include coordinating the lower-division Arabic language program, and participating in Arab Studies related events and activities.

Demonstrated expertise in teaching Arabic to university-level learners as well as in second language pedagogy is strongly desired. Knowledge of curriculum design and course sequencing is highly desirable. Native or near-native proficiency in Arabic and English is required.
