Job Details
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Must work under pressure with attention to detail, work with changing priorities, manage numerous programs and events simultaneously and independently, exercise initiative and use discretion
Maintain a constant alertness for signs or indications of unusual or abnormal conditions and provide "first response" service as situations require
Conduct both walking and mobile patrols of interior and exterior locations/areas and remain highly visible
Monitor and control parking according to Parking Program specifications
Secure and unlock specific campus facilities
Provide escorts and access to authorized areas as needed
Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies
Maintain department records, reports and files as required
Regular attendance is an essential function to perform the duties of this position
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
This position requires a valid Driver's license, good driving record, and must be insurable by the College's insurance carrier
Requires the Certification (or ability to become certified) as an Unarmed Office with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance
Must possess excellent customer service skills; utilizing strong analytical skills, excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
Minimum one year of security experience or comparable organization experience (e.g. military, police and/or safety) preferred
Must be able to pass a background check, pre-employment physical and drug screen
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand up to four hours per shift;
Ability to walk one mile at a moderate pace;
Ability to ascend and descend up to three flights of thirteen (13) stairs while carrying a twenty (20) pound bag at above normal pace in order to respond quickly in emergency situations;
Ability to lift to shoulder height forty (40) pounds;
Ability to stay awake no less than eight (8). Visual acuity of 20/20, with or without corrective lenses, to include near visual acuity (14 inches) and far visual acuity (20 feet);
Ability to hear sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the job. Patrol Vehicle, computer/typewriter, radio, telephone, alarm equipment, etc.
Ability to read and write the English language sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the job.
