Primary Purpose of Organization Unit:
The Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs reports to the Chancellor, serving as a visionary strategic partner. Other positions reporting to the Chancellor include Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration, Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Chief Communications & Marketing Officer, General Counsel, Chief of Staff/Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Director of Athletics.
Positions reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs include: Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success and Dean of the University College; Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences; Dean of the School of Education; Dean of the Thomas School of Business; Dean of the College of Health Sciences; Dean of the Esther G. Maynor Honors College; Dean of The Graduate School; Dean of Library Services; Associate Vice Chancellor of Planning & Accreditation; Director of Institutional Research; Director of Sponsored Research; Director of Academic Resources; Director/Curator of the Museum of the Southeast American Indian; Registrar, Executive Assistant and Administrative Support Associate.
There are over 500 full-time employees in the disciplines/functions supervised by the Provost, including approximately 312 full-time and 113 adjunct faculty
Primary Purpose of Position:
The Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs serves as the university’s chief academic officer fostering intellectual growth, academic excellence, scholarly and creative programming and student success.
The Provost partners with the Chancellor and works collaboratively with the Deans, Faculty, Staff and Administration to develop an inspiring academic vision that boldly defines the university and what it can be for generations to come.
The Provost is a key member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet and provides vital leadership to ensure the curriculum is relevant and academically rigorous while also developing short- and long-term plans consistent with the university’s mission and strategic plan.
