The Dental College of Georgia's Department of Oral Biology & Diagnostic Sciences is looking for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Profesor or Professor to be a creative, visionary, and responsible individual who has a very high and competitive knowledge in biology of aging and age-related diseases. This position is a 1.00 FTE non-tenure track position. The individual would be extremely skilled in Bioassays, Immunobiology and Geriatrics. They would have the ability to develop and continue a robust research program aimed at generating new insights into the molecular interaction of aging and bone biology. This particular hire is expected to develop a research program geared toward application of cellular and molecular aspects of existing biosystems in the host and their alterations during the process of aging. Candidates will demonstrate a record of, or potential for:

Publications in impactful journals.
Success in obtaining individual and collaborative extramural funding.

Responsibilities
Teaching - 10%

Teaching dental students, dental residents and graduate students. This will include development and delivery of cellular mechanisms in the context and related to the aging and age-related diseases. Should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Research/Scholarship - 85%
Conduct independent research as well as research in collaboration with other faculty within the Dental College of Georgia and specifically within and in collaboration with TRIBA initiative in relationship with inflammaging and age-related diseases to advance the program as well as develop an extramurally funded research program.

Service - 5%
Engage in service activities as needed by the department, college, institution, TRIBA center and scientific community.

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biological or relevant Physical Science.

Display a productive record of established scholarship of national and international significance in inflammaging, particularly in relation to aging and age-related diseases.

Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
MD
Ph.D. In Biomedical Sciences
Study of broad spectrum of mechanisms responsible for aging and in the context of age-related diseases.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
