College/Department Information
The Division of Institutional Effectiveness (IE) provides support and leadership through planning, assessment, data analysis & reporting, performance monitoring & improvement, and project management. The practical and collaborative services drive overall organizational improvements in quality, responsiveness, and efficiency for internal and external stakeholders.

Job Summary
The Planning & Assessment Coordinator position supports Augusta University divisions and units in their strategic planning and annual planning and assessment activities to promote continuous improvement, meet the mission of the university, and ensure compliance with policy and accreditation standards. The position develops, provides, and continually improves processes and tools to support units in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting evidence to implement a systematic, university-wide process of planning, resource alignment, and assessment. The position also provides assistance to faculty and staff, academic programs, academic support units, campus committees, and other groups in planning, documenting, implementing, and using the results of the assessment of student learning outcomes.

The duties include, but are not limited to:

General Responsibilities
The Planning & Assessment Coordinator position supports Augusta University divisions and units in their strategic planning and annual planning and assessment activities to promote continuous improvement, meet the mission of the university, and ensure compliance with policy and accreditation standards. The position develops, provides, and continually improves processes and tools to support units in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting evidence to implement a systematic, university-wide process of planning, resource alignment, and assessment. The position also provides assistance to faculty and staff, academic programs, academic support units, campus committees, and other groups in planning, documenting, implementing, and using the results of the assessment of student learning outcomes.

Compliance with Patient/Family-Centered Care standards
Demonstrates dignity and respect for patient and family for patient and family knowledge, values, beliefs, and cultural background in the planning and delivery of care.
Provides information sharing, ensuring patients and families receive timely, complete, and accurate information in order to effectively participate in care and decision-making.
Encourages patient and family participation in care and decision-making at the level they choose.
Promotes collaboration with patients and families in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation in health care facility design, professional education, and delivery of care.

Administrative/Education Support Unit Planning & Assessment Process
Support administrative/education support units and colleges in their efforts to plan, align their planning with the overall mission and strategic plan of the institution, identify expected outcomes, assess the extent to which they achieve these outcomes, and provide evidence of improvement based on analysis of the assessment results. This support includes, but is not limited to the following:

a. Providing support through group and one-on-one interactions related to planning, desired outcomes, assessment, reporting, and education on accreditation standards as appropriate.
b. Encouraging best practices for unit and program level planning and assessment and continuous improvement.
c. Planning and providing facilitation as needed for planning sessions.
d. Auditing final assessment reports for use of results and provide feedback to leadership, and auditing unit plans for completion, quality, and linkage to the institution's strategic plan.
e. Developing and providing reports of progress to encourage continuous improvement.
f. Participating in groups and committees that support continuous improvement in regards to planning and assessment.
g. Participating in related projects or initiatives to further understanding of colleges and administrative activities.

Academic Program Assessment Process
Support colleges and academic programs In their I efforts to assess student learning outcomes. This support includes, but is not limited to the following:

a. Providing support through group and one-on-one interactions related to developing and accessing student learning outcomes.
b. Participating in groups, committees, and teams that support the student learning outcome development and assessment process. Provide leadership as requested to plan ongoing meetings and activities for these groups, committees, and teams.
c. Participating in collaborative student learning outcome assessment training efforts with Faculty Development for new faculty and program assessment directors.
d. Encouraging best practices for student learning outcome assessment.
e. Developing and providing reports of progress to encourage continuous improvement.
f. Participating in related projects or initiatives to further understanding of college level and student learning outcomes activities.

Accreditation & Comprehensive Program Review Support
Assist academic support units, academic programs, and the Institutional Effectiveness accreditation unit in accreditation and comprehensive program activities. The assistance includes developing reports to support accreditation .

Planning & Assessment Process Support
Develop, implement, and continually assess the annual planning and assessment processes and tools for the institution.

a. Developing supporting materials (calendar, guides, key dates, resources).
b. Providing support to the resource alignment and budgeting process.
c. Creating and run audit reports for compliance and status. Communicate areas of weakness across organization in assessment practices. Identify possible obstacles that inhibit optimal assessment process flow. Provide assistance to struggling Units and Programs to resolve issues. Coordinating the implementation and effective utilization of the institution's planning and assessment management software, including, but not limited to:
Training faculty and staff in the use of the software
Continually assessing the tool and its functions, revising as necessary.
Developing reports Developing training materials
Troubleshooting and developing special reports, as requested
e. Disseminating and communicating assessment results to Internal and external constituencies to assist in data-driven decision making. Providing recommendations to senior leadership to improve planning and assessment activities
f. Presenting and providing support to related governance group(s) with the charge of guiding the division on the development and implementation of a systematic, institution-wide continuous improvement process, appropriate metrics, and the quality assessment of unit planning and student learning outcomes.

Collaborate with division
Collaborate within the division and the institution to support ongoing projects and efforts that support the effectiveness of the institution including the following:

a. Serving as a conduit into Institutional effectiveness for possible projects, lean process improvement initiatives, requests for data or surveys.
b. Working with Institutional Research to identify data and other resources to support the overall planning and assessment processes.
c. Supporting lean process improvement initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelors degree form an accredited college or university and five years experience in research and assessment in higher education or in a customer service environment
OR
Masters degree form an accredited college or university in social/behavioral science or related field and two years experience

Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
At least two years professional experience in educational and/or outcomes assessment, preferably in higher education
Knowledge of assessment processes, student learning outcomes, planning outcomes, and accountability issues
Basic knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design and measurement techniques
Experience in strategic and annual planning and assessment
Experience in managing small projects

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Ability to work autonomously
Ability to use organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through
Ability to learn and effectively use new software
Good time management and an ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects and Initiatives

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge and experience in higher education planning and assessment
Knowledge and experience In student learning outcome assessment
Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative metrics
Basic knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research design and measurement techniques

SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills including group presentation skills
Analytical skills
Facilitation skills to lead small groups in planning and assessment activities
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective working relationships with senior leadership, faculty, and staff
Strong on-line researching skills

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Grade: 18

Salary: Minimum $48,341.00/Annually - $63,882.74/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
