Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science (MPCS) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 15, 2023. UC Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio, located in Blue Ash, Ohio, with an enrollment of approximately 5100 students. The American Association of University Professors serves as the collective bargaining agent for full-time faculty; see the Chapter's website (http://aaupuc.org) for details of the bargaining agreement. The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is a two-year regional campus of the University of Cincinnati that awards a variety of two-year Associate and four-year technical Baccalaureate degrees. UC Blue Ash has faculty who are deeply committed to teaching in a diverse environment. The Department of MPCS currently has 25 full-time faculty who teach courses in IT including programming, databases, networking, and web development, as well as mathematics, physics, and statistics.

Essential Functions
  • The duties involved with this position will entail teaching courses such as Systems Administration, Introduction to Networking, Programming, and Databases.
  • Additional duties may include teaching freshman/sophomore level introductory courses on AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Natural Language Processing. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per term and may include evening, weekend, hybrid, and online classes. Class sizes normally range from 15 to 30 students.
  • Responsibilities also include participating in the governance and committee work of the Department, College, and University, as well as ongoing professional development in the discipline of information technology and/or the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Minimum Requirements

Prior to date of appointment, all of the following are required:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and one (1) academic year of teaching experience in IT, Computer Science, or a combination of the two at the college level.
