The College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking a highly motivated, full-time lecturer who can teach a variety of laboratory and design-focused courses. This position is not on the tenure track. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.A successful candidate will ideally have the following qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in computer-aided modeling and design.
  • Expertise in software such as SolidWorks, Revit, AutoCAD, LabView, Civil 3D, Microstation, Bluebeam, or comparable software packages.
  • Familiarity with dimensioning and tolerancing practices or standards such as ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping methodologies such as 3D printing.
  • Active engagement in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field of CAD.
  • Relevant teaching experience, including a record of professional development in teaching and ability to teach students with a range of prior knowledge (first year through upper level coursework).
  • Experience and/or interest in project-based, active learning, and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Eagerness to serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate students.
  • Evidence promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in their personal and/or professional life.
  • Passion for driving continuous improvement in their teaching, and in their Department, College, and University through service activities.
The anticipated start date is Summer of 2023 with teaching beginning in Fall 2023.The University of Vermont, established in 1791, is a comprehensive research university with a current enrollment of 12,000+ undergraduate, graduate, and medical students.
